The Kimmel Harding Nelson Center for the Arts is a renowned artist residency program located in southeastern Nebraska.
Since 2001, the residency has hosted more than 50 working artists each year which include a combination of visual artists, writers, composers, and interdisciplinary artists from across the country and around the world. Each has found privacy in which to create along with ample opportunities to interact with fellow artists in a friendly community located in the rolling bluff country of eastern Nebraska. The KHN Center accommodates up to five artists at a time for stays that vary from two to eight weeks.
The Kimmel Harding Nelson Center is located at 801 3rd Corso in Nebraska City houses a gallery that features work by area artists. The permanent collection of visual art, writings, and compositions by former residents is available for viewing throughout the common areas of the center during open hours, Monday through Friday from 10 a.m. to 5 p.m. If you’d like to visit during another time or are interested in bringing a group through for a personal tour, just give them a call.
Receptions for the exhibiting artists are usually scheduled on the first Thursday of the month or on Saturday afternoons to coincide with local festivals. The gallery is also open during monthly First Thursday Open Studio events.
